Surface topography of jet shock cells in a hydraulic analogy

چکیده
The photograph in Fig. 1 (top) shows text visualized through free surface flow, which serves as a hydraulic analogy of an underexpanded two-dimensional jet at Froude number 1.35 [analogous to Mach number (Buchanan et al. 2007)]. The text is illuminated by a halogen lamp from below a water table and used as a Fig. 1 Photograph (top) of the analogy to shock cells downstream of a nozzle at Mach number 1.35, with flow from left to right. The text below the water flow is used as a reference for surface reconstruction; time-averaged surface (bottom) topography of the shock cells of the same flow, the contours indicate the surface gradient in the flow direction, increasing from blue to red (negative to positive). The reconstructed surface from the reference image topography technique matches well with the real free surface flow

Experimental Investigation of Bed Variations due to Circular Culvert Jet with Different Angles
Downfall flows from different outlet hydraulic structures such as culverts and jetsthrowingtothe erodible downstream bed cause scour hole and changes in the downstream bed topography. Therefore,by performing some physical modeling tests on culvert jet flow under different angles, changes in the downstream bed topography under the effect of different parameters such as flow rate, depth of the ta...

In this research dense fluid discharge was experimentally investigated under the surface jet in the shallow acceptor. The investigated parameters were depth of the acceptor ambient, flow rate and the concentration of surface jet. In order to investigate the relationship between these parameters, a physical model experiments were performed in the hydraulic laboratory of Shahid Chamran University...
متن کاملStudying the Effect of Submergence Depth on Scour Pattern of Hydraulic Jet Downstream
This research aims to study jet downstream scour model under the influence of changes of water level. It also studies and analyzes different parameters and components of diffusion of submerged jet flow in an acceptor fluid and scour hole dimensions. To achieve the objectives, a physical model was made in proportion to the research title. With the Froude number increasing in a nozzle discharge, ...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Free Surface in the Case of Plane Turbulent Wall Jets in Shallow Tailwater
Wall-jet flow is an important flow field in hydraulic engineering, and its applications include flow from the bottom outlet of dams and sluice gates. In this paper, the plane turbulent wall jet in shallow tailwater is simulated by solving the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations using the standard turbulence closure model. This study aims to explore the ability of a time splitting method ...
متن کاملThe role of topography on the simulation of Sistan wind structure in the east of Iranian Plateau
In this study, the interaction between atmosphere and earth surface and its effect on the simulation of Sistan wind structure in the East of Iranian plateau is investigated. For this purpose, four experiments have been carried out with RegCM4, with horizontal resolution of 20 km. In non-topography experiments, the model was implemented in three different conditions. The results indicated that t...
